The New Season Kicks Off at Shrewsbury Rugby!
Sunday September 7th marks the start of an exciting new season for our minis and juniors at Shrewsbury RUFC. From our youngest U6 players taking their first steps in rugby to our developing U18s, we're ready to welcome everyone to Sundorne Castle for what promises to be our best season yet.
It's Never Too Late to Start
Whether your child has never touched a rugby ball or they're looking to take their game to the next level, SRUFC is the perfect place to begin their rugby journey. We pride ourselves on being great at supporting and integrating new players, helping them form lifelong bonds with the game and friendships that last far beyond their playing days.
As ONE CLUB, we're WELCOMING, SAFE, INCLUSIVE, SUSTAINABLE, and PROGRESSIVE. Our vision is clear: to be a leading rugby club that inspires passion, fosters excellence, and unites our community, providing a pathway for all to achieve their full potential while embodying a culture of respect, inclusivity, and resilience.
Training & Play Times
Sunday Mornings (10:30am): All mini mixed age groups (U11 and below) and boys juniors (U12-U16) train and play together in our vibrant morning sessions.
Sunday Afternoons (1pm onwards): Our girls' rugby sessions take centre stage, part of our huge push to grow what is already an incredibly successful programme.
Midweek Training: Age groups U10 and above have commenced their Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening training sessions. Check out your age group profile to meet the key people confirm dates and times, and come along to see what we're all about.
Growing Girls' Rugby at SRUFC
With the Women's World Cup inspiring a new generation, there's never been a better time for girls to get involved in rugby at Shrewsbury. We have a proud heritage of developing girls' rugby - just ask Sarah Parry and Natalee Evans, two current England U20 women's team players who developed their skills right here at SRUFC. Our girls' section continues to flourish, and we're actively seeking new players to join this exciting journey so bring your friends along!
Try Before You Commit
All new players are welcome to come down and experience SRUFC for a few weeks completely free before making any commitment. It's our way of ensuring the club is the right fit for your family, and we're confident you'll love what you find.
Getting Started is Simple
What You Need: Boots and a gumshield are essential (though trainers are fine for our smallest players to begin with). Everything else can be sorted through our click and collect club shop, which will be ready for the season start, plus our popular pre-loved stall for boots and kit that kids outgrow quickly.
Registration: When joining your age group, grab the Spond identifier from your manager for communications and availability updates. All players need to be registered on the RFU GMS system and affiliated to the club - this is also where we handle subs payment.
Family Discounts: We offer generous discounts for families with multiple children, so bring everyone along - particularly the girls!
